BYET Testimonials

January 14th, 2014

"Erin is very passionate and professional in her work. Her photography shows how patient she is and how much photography and nature means to her. I have a lot of respect for Erin's ability to take her interests and create something she can share with others. It only takes looking at her work once to be hooked and excited to see what she captures next."
- Amy Padilla, Oregon USA

“Erin has a knack for getting amazingly unique images of creatures. She masterfully records the essence of their energy and their personality. Many photographers take pictures of Mother Nature’s creatures–Erin captures and transforms their spirit into the images she makes. She is a mighty talented photographer.”
- Jim Miller, Texas USA

“Your pictures are truly incredible….little gems I look forward to seeing every day! Thank you for your love not just of photography, but for the gifts in nature that we seldom see because we are too busy rushing on by!”
- Paula K Jones, Oregon USA

“Even if I had no interest in nature photography, I’d be absolutely awestruck by your pics, you’re really a fantastically talented and insightful photographer.”
- Søren Olsen, Denmark

“I’ve had the great pleasure of knowing Erin for many years now and it goes without saying that her dedication, commitment and love for the wild is visible thorough the shots that she has taken. She is an exceptional photographer and an inspiration to many.”
- Anjana Siag, India

"Erin has an ability to grasp life in a single instance. Her photos capture the beauty that we are all looking to find. She can turn even the simplest leaf into art and is able to share that through her amazing photographs."
- Kathy Doty, Oregon USA

“One of the perks of my job, is that I am exposed to photography, from morning to night. Every day I get to view thousands of images from nature & wildlife photographers from around the world. A few months ago I noticed a new photographer posting images on one of our social media websites, her wonderful imagery immediately caught my eye.
Apart from her ability in finding interesting and unusual subjects; Erin’s use of unusual shooting angles and composition really make her work stand out from the crowd.
I have had great joy in experiencing Erin’s work and although I have only know her for a short time, I have found her to be a adventurous & fun loving person with a passion for photography.
As a magazine, we have been fortunate to have had some of Erin’s work grace our pages, and I have no doubt that we will continue to see her grow and develop as a photographer. “

Angels in the Outfield

December 22nd, 2013

Angels in the Outfield

In April 2013 I was asked to donate this photo at auction for a really good cause….http://www.theangelsintheoutfield.org/

I took this photograph 3 years ago just after moving to the lake. I was wandering around the shoreline looking for something to spur my creative juices, when I noticed the surface tension from the reeds poking up through the water. As I studied this more closely, I began to see the reflection of the blue sky peek out from behind the white clouds. This along with the reflection of the reeds themselves lent to the drama of the scene. It is still one of my favorite photographs.

This photograph was also chosen as one of the top 15 for the week at wildphotomag.co.za You can find all 15 at this link: http://www.wildphotomag.co.za/wordpress/?p=1927

cheers everybody!

Kayaking and Photography

Kayaking and Photography

At the end of 2012 I was approached by an online magazine from South Africa to write a short article on kayaking and photography. I started combining the two activities in 2009 after a trip to Central America. Through trial and error I have finally devised a set up that allows me to capture unique nature pictures from the cockpit of a kayak. I hope you enjoy reading my article, and make sure that you spend time looking around this wonderful magazine.

cheers--Pura Vida
